On K street
Mr K's on K street is a fabulous formal Chinese restaurant. There are moderately hot dishes, but for great Chinese in a pretty fancy, but not too pricey place ($15-18 entrees) It's worth a try.

Due to the prices, or maybe my bank account :-), I have a limited number of experiences at the Red Sage, but they've all been great. Never experienced poor service or insufficient food. It remains one of my favorite places. THe upstairs is good for lunch too. Spicy, hearty sandwiches at reasonable prices.

(just up from USA Today on Wilson Blvd in what is actually Arlington)
The food is more New Mexican and less trendy than most of the other places in the area, the Green Chile Stew is more than edible (when on the menu) and it is the only place I have found that offers Hatch chiles from Bueno foods. Be prepared if you go for lunch as it serves off a counter because of the size of the lunch crowd. Dinners are restaraunt style.
