The jerk seasoning ingredients may be replaced by 1 1/2 tbl of your favorite Jerk seasoning if you don't mind the heat. I prefer homemade but any commercial brand will do. Mix cabbage, carrots, and chives and set aside. Mix remaining ingredients well and add to cabbage mixture. Let sit at least 2 hours, but overnight is better. Well it's pretty obvious that you BC types haven't tasted MY Jerk seasoning. Genuine Red Savinas and piquins in my mixture. Piquins for the quick hot burn while the habs sneak up and grab you by the tonsils! I assumed that anyone on this list would automatically adjust the heat to their taste. Check with anyone who attended Jim's Chile Field event. They got a milder form of my jerk seasoning to sample. The recipe I submitted was made for my non-CH friends (which is why I added the fact that you could substitute Jerk powder for the bland ingredients) My Chileheadedness hereby defended, I rest my case.
